Northwest Youth Corps’ Tribal Stewards Program

The Tribal Stewards Program is specifically designed to provide hands on training and experience to Native American young adults who are interested in pursuing employment with conservation corps, land and water resource management agencies, and other outdoor careers. The Tribal Stewards Program integrates team-based work projects, culture relevancy, education, and on-site vocational training into an experience that prioritizes personal growth, and the development of conservation work skills. Participants will develop technical skills working on a variety of conservation projects while developing the soft skills needed to be successful in the outdoor industry.

Summer HIV/AIDS Research Program (SHARP)

The Summer HIV/AIDS Research Program (SHARP) is a 12-week paid summer internship based in San Francisco, California. The program is designed to inspire students from underrepresented communities to pursue further studies and careers in public health-oriented clinical, socio-behavioral, and community-focused research. Students will gain hands-on experience, receive one-on-one mentoring, explore career options in scientific research and public health, participate in workshops and seminars, and learn how to conduct research responsibly. Travel stipends are available for out-of-state scholars.

SMART also covers topics that are important to gay, bi, and queer teen guys, like navigating sex and romantic relationships, understanding their sexual and gender identities, and connecting with the LGBT Community. The internship is located at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is a 10-week, paid summer internship, funded by the National Institutes of Health.
