The Center for Native American Youth at The Aspen Institute has a mission, as an education and advocacy organization, to improve the health, safety, and overall well-being of Native American youth.
The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) recognizes November as Native American Heritage Month. With a good heart, CNAY urges all individuals, organizations, institutions, and local and state governing bodies to join us in recognizing Native American Heritage Month.
Despite the stark histories of attempted termination and assimilation of the tribal people across the United States, who have lived on these lands since time immemorial, the people’s collective resiliency continues to persevere. The diverse cultures and traditions continue to live and thrive while Native American people navigate and make significant contributions to current society. Native American people are not relics of the past. Together, we must celebrate the people, honor their history, and recognize their contributions.
Join us in recognizing Native American Heritage Month every November. Commit to educating the public on the true histories and resiliency of the population and combating the inaccuracies, stereotypes, and racial slurs that still live today. Together, we will create an equitable, safe, and just society that ensures Native youth and all youth have opportunity to live and thrive.
In Resilience,
The Center for Native American Youth
