Tahnee Poafpybitty (she/her) is an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, descending from Chief Little Raven, a Sandcreek Massacre survivor, and Chief Whitewolf. Her Comanche name – given by her great grandfather – is Tabetoi, meaning Dawn of a New Day/Sunrise. A proud mother of four, she resides in Northern Virginia, ensuring her family stays connected to their culture.
In 2020, Tahnee was recognized as a Dreamstarter by Billy Mills, Oglala Lakota Olympic gold medalist and founder of Running Strong for American Indian Youth. This recognition enabled her to establish Native Vision, a program providing eye exams and glasses for Native youth, inspired by her early career in Pediatric Ophthalmology. Outside of CNAY, Tahnee continues to dedicate her time to mentoring through Running Strong.
Tahnee is a graduate of George Mason University and holds certifications from Georgetown University. She is honored to be part of the CNAY team, where she is committed to improving the health, safety and overall well-being of Native American youth.
