Sage Chief (she/her) is Oglala Lakota and Diné. She was born and raised in the Bay Area, but now lives on the Pine Ridge Reservation. She is 18 years old and will be attending Oglala Lakota College in the fall. Sage is very excited and honored to be a 2024 Remembering Our Sisters Fellow and raise awareness for the MMIW Movement.
About Sage’s Project
Based on a viral Facebook post, Beware is an animation that illustrates the story of a Native woman who was kidnapped while traveling back to the Pine Ridge Reservation. This project highlights how targeted Native women are within the human trafficking business, accounting for 40% of all victims.
