My name is Raquel Britton and I come from the Round Valley Indian Tribes in California. I am from Mendocino, the second largest tribes in all of California. I am a part of the community by volunteering in youth group and dancing in a traditional dance group. I have traveled all over the United States thanks to many opportunities. I’m grateful for the work I’ve done and I will keep doing as I love my people and culture.
A traditional Indian woman shows Mother Earth’s beauty in her homeland. She represents her community and her traditional dance group as a whole, while being connected to the land. She stands by the water i her home, known as Round Valley Indian Tribes Reservation. She poses for a photo in her regalia with the help from a Native American traditional resources program. She’s been taught her traditional ways by mentors who have taught throughout generations of their ancestors.
