Kiara Tanta-Quidgeon (Mohegan) is an early-career researcher, writer and public health professional committed to centering Indigenous voices in the pursuit of health equity and climate resilience. She recently graduated from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health with a Master of Public Health degree in Sociomedical Sciences. She works at Quinnipiac University where she is involved with the Indigenous Student Union. Kiara hosted a community event during Indigenous Peoples’ Week, at which she presented on the history of Native American voting rights and highlighted the importance of civic action in Native communities.Â
Kiara created handouts with instructions on how to register to vote, a voting resource guide and a voting FAQ that were shared with the Quinnipiac Indigenous Student Union for distribution ahead of the 2024 November election. Ten students attended the event.
