Our team, Helu Kanaka, consists of Leinani Roylo, Koloikeao Anthony and Connor Kalāhiki. We are Native Hawaiian youth hailing from the island of Oʻahu. We all firmly believe in the necessity of civic engagement as a means of actualizing social justice.
What advice would you give to youth who are looking to be active in their communities?
“A Native Hawaiian proverb reads: “E nānā i ke kumu” or look to the source. Youth should seek out resources that will help connect them with efforts of which they want to become a part.“
