Daywakihaa K.

Kia Ora my name is Daywakihaa K. I love riding horses like my grandmother and my nan. I ride rodeo and train horses for my community. I love drawing and painting and know it helps tell stories.

I thought about where I come from in both my Maori side and my Pawnee side – we come from the stars and stars carry our ancestors. They make me feel at home knowing that the stars guide me. My mom always tells us that creator opened his robe and out of that came Buffalo and corn and that they provide a home for us. That’s my painting.
