CAMELA MANHEIMER, 21
NAVAJO
In my painting, I used vibrant colors to illustrate the beauty of nature on Navajo Land. The rocks range from reds, yellows, and browns. In the distance, the mesa appears blue and purple. All over the land, desert plants sporadically grow in the sand and rocks. I am surrounded by nature and beauty. I illustrated myself holding a paint brush and Navajo botanical book to show that art and plants pushed me to immerse me in my culture. Art and my high school education initiated me to learn my identity as a Navajo woman.
