Fawn Robinson

2022 Building Communities of Hope Fellow

Susanville Indian Rancheria

Fawn Robinson is a member of the Susanville Indian Rancheria. Her tribes are Paiute, Maidu, Hopi and Washoe. She currently works for the Susanville Indian Rancheria (SIR) as a Youth Program Advocate for the Teen Center. Working in this position has been a rewarding experience for Fawn. Most recently, she was accepted to be a member in the ICWA Committee for the SIR. Currently, she is working towards a bachelor’s degree in Tribal Administration and received her associates degrees in psychology, sociology and social science.

Her ambition has always been to help others, specifically children and teens in foster care because of her lived experience being adopted and how it had such a positive impact on her life. In addition for advocating for change in the child welfare system, she is passionate about access to higher education, MMIP, water and land rights, as well as cultural preservation.

My siblings and I were a part of foster care and eventually adopted, but not everyone in the foster care system has a good experience and outcome as we did. I’m passionate about transforming the foster care system because everyone deserves an opportunity to be a part of a family; and a system that is put in place to protect the children in it should continue to try and be better to not further fail those children.
