Hi! My name is Ariela Manriquez and people would usually describe me as a happy fun person. On my free time I like to draw, read, write, and sing. I usually like to write poems that express what I would be feeling that day, but other than that I love to play sports such as basketball and softball.
ABOUT THIS PIECE
Indigenous. Where can I begin? Being indigenous to me means going to church every Friday with my family during lent and eating tacos. It also means preparing tamales 5 days before Christmas and cooking them on Christmas Eve. Being indigenous to me means to be together as one and just being happy. This is what my project is all about. I wanted to capture all the important people in my life and wanted to show their happiness through photography. The eye that these pictures form into represent being together as one soul. That’s what indigenous to me means.
