Empowering Native Voices in a Pivotal Moment:
Survey Helps Communities Share Their Stories and Inform Policy
The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) and the Research for Indigenous Social Action and Equity Center (RISE) are proud to announce the launch of the RISE Indigenous Voices Survey 2025. This collaborative initiative aims to capture and elevate the experiences, perspectives and concerns of Native peoples across the United States.
This survey represents a significant step towards ensuring that Native voices are heard and acknowledged in crucial conversations and policy decisions. By participating in this survey, Native individuals have the opportunity to contribute to the development of accurate narratives, inform impactful policies and guide decision-making at various levels of government.
“The RISE Indigenous Voices Survey is a powerful tool for amplifying Indigenous voices through data,” said Dr. Stephanie Fryberg (Tulalip), Founding Director of RISE. “Native peoples can ensure their perspectives are not only heard but valued in shaping politics, education and media policies that directly affect our communities.”
The survey, which takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete, covers a range of topics including daily experiences and contemporary social issues facing Native communities. All responses are anonymous and confidential, prioritizing the privacy and trust of participants.
Individuals will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win one of several prizes. Upon completing the survey, respondents will be redirected to a separate form where they can provide contact information for entry; this information will be entirely separate from survey responses, ensuring complete anonymity and confidentiality.
“This survey is more than just a collection of responses. It is a platform for Native youth and adults to share their stories, challenges and aspirations,” said Katy Stewart, Programs Manager at CNAY. “These insights will help us communicate accurate representations of Native peoples and counteract long-standing stereotypes and misconceptions.”
It is more important than ever for Native people to have independent and ethical data they can rely on, and CNAY and RISE encourage all Native individuals to participate in this crucial survey.
