Roxy Sprowl is a Senior at Michigan State University. She works as an Assistant in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Children’s Services Administration in the Native American Affairs Department. Roxy is seeking to learn how to transform lived experience into action, change and advocacy. At the age of five she entered the foster care system and remained in guardianship placement for 13 years with her non-native paternal grandmother.
Through her working experience she has seen the internal complications with compliance to ICWA and the Michigan Indian Family Preservation Act. She hopes to enhance her knowledge regarding compliance barriers and learn solutions that can be implemented, and branch on education skills to provide state and nationwide training regarding Indian Child Welfare.
