William White

2024 Building Communities of Hope Fellow

Choctaw

William is an 18-year-old freshman, pursuing a degree in Computer Science at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. His academic journey is guided by a passion for leveraging technology to empower communities. Proudly of Choctaw descent, he is deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the Cherokee Nation, where I live and work.

At the age of five he was placed in the foster care system with his siblings for three years, residing in 21 placements over the course of three years. Through this fellowship, he wants to improve his advocacy skills and bring messages from youth to decision makers to make affect positive change. He hopes to enhance the overall foster care system by reducing the traumas he experienced.
